I’ve always heard that black women are not suppose to wear light pink lipstick. Thats for white chicks only. . .

I think nikki minaj pretty much killed that myth! Lol, and I am glad! I think pink is BEAUTIFUL on US !

: I mixed this pale pink shade with a tiny bit of burgandy lipstick. Its still pretty light though. I just did not want to look like I had been chewing asprin. Lol .

A short hair cut can take you from mild to WILD. But not everyone knows how to properly care for a shorter style. Does your short style only look great a few days after your hair appointment? Here are some tips that your hair stylist may have never told you. . . . .

✱Use styling gel & a fine tooth comb to lay down sides & hair in the back. It’s best to do this before going to bed. When you unwrap your hair in the morning,just spray on a lil oil sheen. Viola !

✱ Get trims every 2 – 3 weeks. Usually short styles get unruly when they start to grow out. So stay on top of those trims!

✱Relax the sides & back of your hair as needed. It will show new growth before the longer areas will.

Buns are also a protective hairstyle. A protective hairstyle is a style that you wear when you want to give your hair a break.

Protective styles require very minimal manipulation, which is essential to helping to grow.

Today’s buns can be funky or elegant. Whatever your flavor.

So many woman are obsessed with hair growth. I think I have done several blogs already pertaining to this topic. Here are some old school tips I have heard here & there. They involve food items they you may have in your kitchen.

Vinegar slows hair loss and promotes new
growth. It also balances the pH of your scalp. It has been shown to thicken hair and remove dead skin cells that can clog follicles and hurt your hair’s ability to grow. Use it as a rinse after shampooing. Just make sure that you rinse the vinegar out your hair well & use a nice smelling conditioner. Don’t want you smellin like douche.

Heres another smelly concoction: Onions!

Add minced onion to your shampoo. Let it marinate in your shampoo for a few days. Then use the shampoo regularly. Not only will it accelerate hair growth but it will give your hair shine. Again, rinse your hair WELL after this & use a good smelling conditioner. I’d let that conditioner sit on for a few lol.

Next time you make some potatoe salad, save that water from the potatoes.

Let it cool, and rinse your hair with it. This rinse accelerates hair growth.

I remember when hard core dropped. 1996. “Queen Bitch” & “Not Tonite”, were my favorite songs from that album. I never thought kim was a bad looking girl. To me, she looked like 1 of those around the way type chicks. Not the girl next door pretty look. More of the tough sexy homegirl look.

Latoya Jackson

This is latoya after her 1st or 2nd nose job.

My earliest memory of seeing latoya jackson was in the,”Heart Don’t Lie” video. Her nose was just right then. To be honest, I do think she needed rhinoplasty in the first place lol. But I think she should have stopped at the 1st or maybe 2nd procedures.

Patti Labelle

I think patti’s surgical makeover was a lot more subtle. I don’t think her nose was this big though in the, “love,need & want you” days.

Straight hair can be had by anyone of any hair type these days. You don’t even have to use chemicals to achieve this look. Many woman make painstaking efforts to obtain it. Often risking the health of their hair. If you are natural, avoid products that list water as a main ingredient. Adding moisture to your hair after straightening it is guaranteed to make it curl up again.

First:

Shampoo with a moisturizing shampoo & conditioner. I like frizz ease products when straightening natural hair.

Then apply a Leave-in conditioner.

Then blow dry & flat-iron the hair section by section.

If your lucky, you’ll look like you just got it done at the salon!

Beauty Tips For Thrifty Divas

African Americans spend a lot of money on beauty products! I bet you got a “beauty junk drawer” right now that needs cleaning!

Here are some money saving tips:

Consult with a hair stylist before you drop lots of money at the beauty supply store. You can also google hair questions or concerns & get product recommendations. Find out what will address your hair issue. Don’t waste money guessing because the package is pretty. Or the product claims to perform a miracle. You may just need a good 10$ trim. Not 30$ worth of products.
Consult with a dermatologist about your flaky scalp. Sometimes what we think is dandruff is something else. You spend a ton of cash to buy products to treat the flakes. How do you know that what your using is really helping? When you don’t know whats causing the problem?

Look for multitasking products. There are some products out there that do more than 1 thing. Which also eliminates extra clutter on your bathroom counter.

Go to a salon to get your relaxers (aka perms) & color done. It may seem cheaper to do it yourself . But its worth it to pay for a professional job. Eventually you may have to wind up & go to the salon anyway for damage.

Every now and then I’m in self help mode. I like to be encouraged and encourage others.

If you can think it or dream it. It can be done. It just may not be easy. There’s a difference between being busy and being productive. Here are some tips that help me to stay more productive.

Clear your head. Write down everything that you need to do, all your tasks and projects and ideas. Dump your thoughts on paper.

Eliminate distractions. Clear your desk of all papers, clear your walls and surrounding areas, and allow yourself to truly focus.

Focus on one task at a time.

Give yourself one project a day.

Stop chatting all day. Anybody can get on facebook and twitter and talk about what they are going to do. You’ve seen the statuses. Usually in all capital letters lol. Just because ” Boss” is in your fb name that don’t make you one. Action does.
